Spring Renewal: Healing Through the Earth & Celebrating Our New Year

Winter has been long.

The cold, the darkness, the heaviness — it settles into your bones. You move through the days, through the seasons, and somewhere along the way, you forget what it feels like to bloom.

But spring is here. And this is our time.

Spring as Our New Year

We celebrate New Year on January 1st, but I've always felt that spring is when the real renewal happens. Winter strips everything bare. Spring brings it back to life. The earth knows this. The flowers know this. And somewhere deep inside, we know it too.

This season isn't just about warmer weather or longer days. It's about permission — permission to shed what no longer serves us, to step into the light, to celebrate the fact that we made it through.

Grounding: Barefoot on the Earth

One of the simplest, most powerful practices you can do is free: take off your shoes and stand on the earth.

Earthing (or grounding) is the practice of direct contact with the earth's surface. When you walk barefoot on grass, soil, or sand, you're absorbing the earth's electrons — and science shows this can reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and calm your nervous system.

You don't need to understand the science to feel it. Stand barefoot in your garden or a park for just 10 minutes. Feel the grass beneath your feet. Notice how your body shifts. Notice the quiet.

This is free. This is available to you right now. This is medicine.

Vitamin D: The Sun's Gift

For months, you've been reaching for sunscreen and staying covered. But spring sun — especially in the early morning and late afternoon — is a gift.

Vitamin D isn't just a nutrient; it's a hormone that regulates your mood, supports your immune system, and helps your body absorb calcium. When you're deficient (which many of us are after winter), you feel it: fatigue, low mood, aches.

So here's what I do: I spend 15-20 minutes in the morning sun without sunscreen. Not the intense midday sun, but the gentle spring sun. I let it touch my skin. I let my body absorb it.

Your skin needs protection from intense UV rays, but it also needs the sun. Find the balance that feels right for you.

Hydration Ritual: Redmond Salt Water

Start your morning with a glass of water infused with Redmond salt (or any high-quality sea salt with trace minerals).

Redmond salt contains over 60 trace minerals — electrolytes that your body needs for hydration, energy, and cellular function. A pinch in your morning water is a simple way to support your body's natural rhythms and give yourself a gentle boost.

It's not a miracle cure. It's not complicated. It's just a small act of nourishment that says: I'm taking care of myself.

Breathwork: Just Try It

I know. You think breathwork is insane. You think it's too simple, too woo-woo, too much.

I get it. I felt the same way.

But then I tried it. And I noticed something: when I was overwhelmed, when my nervous system was activated, when I felt like I was drowning — my breath changed everything.

Box breathing is the easiest place to start:

1. Find somewhere quiet 2. Breathe in for a count of 4 3. Hold for a count of 4 4. Exhale for a count of 4 5. Hold empty for a count of 4 6. Repeat 5-10 times

That's it. Just try it once. Somewhere quiet. Notice what happens in your body. Notice how your nervous system responds.

You might be surprised.

The Ritual Bath: Baking Soda & Epsom Salt

Run a warm bath. Add 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of Epsom salt. Light a candle. Step in.

Baking soda alkalizes your skin and supports detoxification. Epsom salt contains magnesium, which your body absorbs through your skin — and magnesium is what your nervous system craves. It's calming, grounding, deeply nourishing.

This isn't a luxury. This is medicine. This is you, taking care of yourself in the most tender way.

Tea: Warmth & Ritual

On a spring morning or evening, make a cup of hot tea. Herbal, if you prefer — chamomile for calm, peppermint for digestion, nettle for minerals.

Hold the warm cup in your hands. Feel the steam on your face. Slow down. Notice the taste. Notice the warmth moving through your body.

This simple act is a ritual. It's you, saying: I deserve this moment. I deserve to slow down.

Opening to Spring

Spring is an invitation. It's the earth saying: Come back to life. Come back to yourself. Come back to what matters.

You don't need expensive wellness programs or complicated protocols. You need: - Bare feet on grass - Sun on your skin - Water with minerals - A quiet moment to breathe - A warm bath - A cup of tea

You need to open up and let spring in.

This is our time. This is the season to celebrate the fact that we survived winter. That we're still here. That we're ready to bloom.

Your Spring Renewal Practice

Start small. Pick one practice that calls to you:

- This week: Spend 10 minutes barefoot on the earth - Tomorrow morning: Add a pinch of Redmond salt to your water - Tonight: Try box breathing for 5 minutes - This weekend: Take a baking soda and Epsom salt bath - Every morning: Make a cup of tea and actually sit with it

You don't have to do all of these. You don't have to be perfect. You just have to show up for yourself in small, simple ways.

Spring is here. You're here. And this is your time to bloom.

With love and renewal, Lauren
